The Maboneng Township Arts Experience is a national public art initiative aimed training and working alongside local families and artists to successfully transform their homes into galleries/ museums and outdoor spaces into performance districts.
The organisation, through its programmes, contributes toward the empowerment of women and youth, income generation, as well as the progression of transformation within the impoverished townships areas across South Africa.
As a result of the ongoing programmes, The Maboneng Township Arts Experience has turned over 50 homes in South African townships into galleries, exhibited over 40 artists and motivated township residents to invest in art, and now hosts an annual public arts festival.
